Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Kyushu Classifieds (the "Service"). By creating an account, posting a listing or event, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Kyushu Classifieds is

Kyushu Classifieds is a listings board. We provide the platform that lets people post and browse housing, job, for-sale, services, and event listings. We are not a party to any transaction, rental agreement, employment arrangement, or sale that results from a listing. Any agreement you reach with another user, whether to rent an apartment, take a job, buy something, or attend an event, is strictly between you and them. We don't inspect properties, verify job offers, authenticate goods, vet employers, or guarantee that any listing is accurate, safe, or legitimate.

2. Accounts & verification

You need an account with a confirmed email address to post anything, in any category. There is no additional identity or residency verification tier; a confirmed email is the only requirement.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything posted under your account.
One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension or the new-account posting limit is a violation of these Terms.
New accounts are limited to one post in their first 24 hours to slow down spam.

3. Posting rules

Housing and Jobs listings are reviewed by hand before they go live. Market and Services listings, and Events, publish immediately.
You must have the right to post what you post: don't list property you don't have authority to rent out, jobs you're not authorized to hire for, or goods you don't actually have.
No illegal goods or services, no discriminatory housing or hiring criteria prohibited by Japanese law, no fraud, no impersonation, no content that would be illegal to publish in Japan.
Editing a Housing or Jobs listing sends it back through manual review before it's public again. Editing a Market, Services, or Event listing does not.
Don't include personal contact information (phone numbers, home addresses, social media or messaging handles, etc.) in a listing's title, description, or photos. Interested buyers can reach you through the built-in "Inquire" feature, which relays messages to your account email without ever posting it publicly. We may remove listings that include personal contact information.

4. Reporting & moderation

Anyone can report a listing they believe violates these Terms (currently via the Contact page). We review reports and may remove listings or suspend accounts at our discretion, including for accounts with a pattern of violations. We'll try to tell you why something was removed when we can, but we don't promise a fixed review timeline; this is currently a manually operated service.

5. Fees

Some categories may require payment to post (for example, a business posting fee for Housing/Jobs, or an ad placement subscription) once payments are enabled. Where a fee applies, it'll be disclosed before you pay, processed through Stripe, and per the Specified Commercial Transactions Act disclosure below, this page will list the actual operator, refund policy, and delivery/service terms once that's live. Nothing on the Service currently charges money.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee any listing's accuracy, that any user is who they claim to be, or that a transaction arranged through the Service will go well. Meet in public places, don't send money before verifying a person or property in person, and use the same judgment you'd use with any classifieds board. See Resources for official immigration, housing, and consumer-protection contacts if something goes wrong.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kyushu Classifieds and its operator aren't liable for losses arising from listings, transactions between users, or content posted by users. This section will be reviewed and finalized alongside legal counsel before public launch.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give us permission to display it on the Service. You're responsible for making sure you have the rights to anything you upload, including photos.

9. Suspension & termination

We can suspend or remove an account that violates these Terms, receives repeated reports, or is used for spam or abuse. You can stop using the Service at any time.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Material changes will update the "last edited" date above.

11. Specified Commercial Transactions Act disclosure (特定商取引法に基づく表記)

TODO before enabling any paid feature: this page correctly defers name, address, and phone to on-request disclosure. Still outstanding: prices, payment methods, and refund policy for each paid feature. Fill these in once Stripe is actually wired up, not before, since nothing on the Service currently charges money.

Operator name, address, and phone number: disclosed promptly upon request via the Contact page, not published here.
Email: not separately required: this disclosure is only mandatory when advertising by email, which this Service doesn't do. Use the Contact page to reach the operator.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. [Jurisdiction / court venue to be finalized with legal counsel.]
