What we collect

Account info: your email address and password (the password itself is never visible to us; Firebase Authentication handles it), plus a report count and suspension status tied to your account.
Listings & events: whatever you put in a posting: title, description, price, prefecture, category, photos, event date/location.
Contact form submissions: optional name and email, prefecture, reason for contacting, and your message. The form is anonymous: you don't need an account to use it, and email is optional.
Reports: if you report a listing, we collect the listing, your account ID, and your stated reason.

We don't currently run analytics or ad-tracking scripts, so we don't collect browsing behavior beyond what Firebase Hosting logs automatically for basic server operation (standard web server access logs).

How we use it

To operate the Service: showing your listings to other users, letting you sign in, sending you the email-verification and password-reset emails Firebase generates.
To moderate content: reviewing Housing/Jobs listings before they publish, and reviewing reports.
To respond to you if you contact us and leave a reply email.

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with third parties for marketing.

Where your data lives

The Service runs on Firebase (a Google Cloud product). Account data, listings, and events are stored in Firestore in the asia-northeast1 (Tokyo) region. Photos are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage, same region. Contact form messages are relayed to us by a Cloud Function using Gmail; that message passes through Google's mail infrastructure to get to us.

Because the Service runs on Google Cloud, Google processes this data on our behalf as our infrastructure provider, under their own data processing terms.

Payments (once enabled)

Kyushu Classifieds doesn't process payments directly yet. Once paid features launch, payment details (card numbers, etc.) will be handled entirely by Stripe; we won't see or store your card information ourselves. This section will be expanded when that's live.

How long we keep it

Account and listing data is kept while your account is active. Removed listings keep their removal reason for moderation records. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us (see below).

Your rights

Under Japanese law you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of that, use the Contact page (select "General question" or describe your request in the message).

Cookies & local storage

The Service uses Firebase Authentication's local storage to keep you signed in between visits. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

Children

Kyushu Classifieds isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone who doesn't meet the minimum age to hold their own email account and enter into agreements (e.g. renting an apartment) under Japanese law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. Material changes will update the "last edited" date above.
